A Performance Comparison Study of Ad Hoc Wireless Multicast Protocols

چکیده
Abstracr-In this paper we investigate the performance of multicast routing protocols in wireless mobile ad hoc networks. An ad hoc network is composed of mobile nodes without the presence of a wired support infrastructure. In this environment, routinghulticasting protocols are faced with the challenge of producing multihop routes under host mobility and bandwidth constraints. In recent years, a number of new multicast protocols of different styles have been proposed for ad hoc networks. However, systematic performance evaluations and comparative analysis of these protocols in a common realistic environment has not yet been performed. In this study, we simulate a set of representative wireless ad hoc multicast protocols and evaluate them in various network scenarios. The relative strengths, weaknesses, and applicability of each multicast protocol to diverse situations are studied and discussed.

Performance Comparison of Mesh based and Tree based Multicast Routing Protocols in MANETs
Multicast routing is a key technology for modern communication networks. It sends a single copy of a message from a source to multiple receivers over a communication link that is shared by the paths to the receivers. This is especially appropriate in wireless environments where bandwidth is scarce and many users are sharing the same wireless channels. In particular, for WMNs, multicast can repr...

A mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is a characteristized by multi-hop wireless links, in the absence of any cellular infrastructure, as well as frequent host mobility. Existing on-demand multicasting protocols are categorized into tree-based and mesh-based strategies. In this paper, we propose a new on-demand multicast routing protocol, named spiral-fat-tree-based on-demand multicast protocol (SOM...

Researchers have contributed to a great extent to solve these challenges with innovative solution to support robust an...
متن کاملPerformance Comparison of Routing Attacks in Manet and Wsn
Routing is a basic step for data exchange. In wireless ad-hoc networks each node acts as a router and executes a routing protocol. Wireless ad-hoc networks are highly resource constrained in terms of network topology, memory and computation power. The reliable data transfer is a difficult task in wireless ad-hoc networks because of resource constraints. A mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is a kind...

In mobile ad hoc networks, the absence ofinfrastructure and the consequent absence of authorizationfacilities impede the usual practice of establishing a practicalcriterion to distinguishing nodes as trusted and distrusted.Since all nodes in the MANETs would be used as router inmulti-hop applications, secure routing protocols have vital rulein the security of the network. So evaluating the perf...
